Checkmate

I bit my tongue
just to check that I could still lie my way out of a “Yes,
I’m fine. How are you?”

The truth is
I have no clue.

On one hand I’ve only got two hands
with which to lift this s**t off of my shoulders
and jeez, is it heavy.

Truth is, life is full of boulders, obstacles,
f**cking U-turns
and unexpected bills but like . . .

Where was this going?

Oh, yeah, there is no way of knowing
where life will take you.
No way of knowing
what will hit you next in an attempt
to break you
and –

Excuse me,
I just need to clear up this glass that I’ve smashed.
I’ll be right back

(or not).

  1. I liked this a lot and very in tune with how I feel at the moment, not knowing what is going to hit you from moment to moment. I had a crystal ball, but I dropped it and it smashed while I was trying to see what would happen next

    1. I am glad you like the piece. It is an unfortunate feeling but one which I believe we can all relate to.
If you ever fix that crystal ball or get a new one let me know 🙂

      1. Oh I will. I just wish I had some way of telling when I will find another one…
